Dubai Mall, the world’s largest shopping mall, is home to an aquarium that has the largest single tank in the world, housing 33,000 marine creatures. The tank also has the largest viewing panel in the world, at 32.8 metres wide and 8.3 metres high. The aquarium’s underwater zoo showcases otters, a Humbolt penguin colony and Harbour seals.
Designed by the creators of the Fountains of Bellagio in Las Vegas, The Dubai Mall showcases The Dubai Fountain. The fountain shoots jets as high as 150 metres, the equivalent of a 50-storey building, and performances are in time to an eclectic range of music from various parts of the world. The light shining from the fountain can be seen from 20 miles away and is visible from space.
The Times Square Centre, on Sheikh Zayed Road, is home to Chillout, the Middle East’s first ever ice lounge. Visitors step into a sub-zero environment in which the walls, tables and chairs are all carved out of ice and sip mocktails.
Ski Dubai, at Mall of the Emirates, is the Middle East’s first indoor ski resort, a 22,500 square metre complex covered in real snow all year round. Ski Dubai has five runs that vary in difficulty, with the longest run at 400 metres, with a fall of over 60 metres. The Freestyle Zone allows snowboarders to practice their stunts, whilst the interactive Snow Park, for adults and children alike, is the largest indoor snow park at 3,000 square metres.
